FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Revised Closure Date

Calexico SR-111 Daytime Lane Closures Begin Thursday, Aug. 4

EL CENTRO, Calif. — Construction crews will reduce lanes on northbound and southbound State Route 111 (SR-111) just south of the SR-111/State Route 98 (SR-98) intersection Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Thursday, Aug. 4 through Tuesday, Aug. 16 for paving activities, according to Caltrans.

At least one lane will remain open in each direction during the work. Nonconsecutive side streets may be temporarily closed during the moving paving operation.

Cross-border motorists are encouraged to use Cesar Chavez Boulevard and avoid the SR-111 construction zone.

Traffic congestion may increase through the construction zone during the lane closures and motorists are advised to allow additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Please be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.
